Reel Trailers, Reel Stands, & Reconductoring Reel

Sherman+Reilly is dedicated to providing quality Reel Trailers, Reel Stands, and Reconductoring Reels (RCRs). Established in 1927, Sherman+Reilly has built a reputation for manufacturing the safest and most reliable electric utility line stringing equipment in North America. Our Reel Trailers are built for durability and performance, featuring high-strength steel, quick change out pillow block bearings, hydraulic or manual leveling jacks, and 16” vented bronze disc brakes. The Turret Reel Trailers lock in 15-degree intervals for flexible site setup. S+R rugged reel stands offer payout disc brakes, grounding bars, anchor rings, and optional hydraulic retrievers for added functionality. For reconductoring, our 2-piece reels outperform wooden reels, handling higher loads and splitting for easy conductor removal while providing long-lasting reliability.

DESIGNED FOR SAFETY. BUILT TO LAST.

Reel Trailers

Cable Reel Trailers, also known as Conductor Reel Trailers, play a pivotal role in line stringing operations. At Sherman+Reilly, we engineer our reel trailers to meet the rigorous demands of utility work, delivering unmatched durability and reliability. Constructed from high-strength steel and continuously welded for rigidity and strength, our trailers are built for long-lasting performance. Each unit is equipped with our time-tested pillow block bearings, hydraulic or manual leveling jacks, and 16” vented bronze disc brakes. Our Turret Reel Trailers provide additional flexibility, locking in 15-degree intervals to adapt to diverse job site conditions. When it comes to utility-grade, high-performance reel trailers, Sherman+Reilly sets the industry standard.

Reel Stands

Sherman+Reilly Reel Stands are built to last, featuring a payout disc brake for smooth tailing tension, grounding bars, and anchor rings at each corner. For added versatility, our optional hydraulic retriever enhances functionality in the field. During the development process, we push our products to the limit because the field demands it. To prove it, we took a 30K CRS 108, loaded it up with a 24,000 lb. reel of conductor hoisted it 27 inches in the air with a crane, and dropped it onto concrete—all while capturing the impact with strain gauges and high-speed video. The result? Rock-solid performance. And that’s just a fraction of what we do to ensure that our reel stands can take a beating and keep working.  If you need an all-welded steel reel stand designed and built for rugged utility work, you found it. Because when failure isn’t an option, Sherman+Reilly delivers.

Reconductoring Reels

Sherman+Reilly’s rugged, 2-piece reconductoring reels crush wooden reels when it comes to recovering used conductor. Built to handle extreme compressive loads, they outperform and outlast—every time. Designed for seamless compatibility with several S+R puller tensioner models, they split in half for quick, hassle-free conductor removal. Pair them with reel lifting tongs, and you’ve got a reconductoring workhorse that’s built to go the distance.
